Energy costs are not included in the rental price. If you bring the car back with less energy than recorded at the pickup, you will be charged for the difference. If you did bring back the car with more energy than at pickup, you will be refunded for the difference.
As the cost of energy is not included in the rental price, the battery level will be checked at the beginning and at the end of the rental to determine if an energy adjustment needs to be applied, and its amount.
If you disagree with the adjustment performed on a rental, you have two business days after the rental has ended to contest.
If Getaround Connect is able to automatically read the car’s battery level, the levels will be read at the beginning and end of the rental. If there is a difference in the car’s battery level between pickup and return, you will be charged accordingly.
If you notice that the battery reading looks off in the app, you must declare it during the reading steps at pickup and return.
These battery level checks are used to determine whether the car has been returned with more or less energy than when the rental began. Battery level is charged for each 10% segment missing (with the exception of the 80-100% segment which will never be charged or refunded to the Owner or Driver).
You will be charged the following amounts based on the car’s energy level:
If you return the car with a higher battery level than at the start of the rental, you will receive the compensation based on the amounts listed above and the corresponding amount will be deducted from the owner’s income.
If you bring back the car with a lower battery level than when the Rental began, Getaround will charge you for the missing battery, and will pay the corresponding amount to the Owner. You will also be charged a recharging fee of €3 (kr30) per 10% missing energy.
If you return the car with less energy than when the rental began, Getaround will charge you for the energy cost and pay the owner the corresponding amount.
When you rent an electric car with Connect and a dedicated charging point, you are expected to start charging the car upon return to ensure it will be ready for the next driver. If there is a problem with charging the car at the end of your rental, please report it by selecting “the car isn’t charging” and provide details of the problem(s).
This information is essential for the car owner to solve the issue before the next rental starts.
If you don’t report the charging problems or don’t clearly explain them, you will be charged €30/ 300kr.
